Academy

The International Academy of Dermocosmetology was founded in 1994 in São Paulo, Brazil, by Dr. Jamel Fares, a pioneer who introduced the world’s first hyaluronic acid, Restylane, as well as the first collagen stimulator, Artecoll, and the botulinum toxin Dysport.

The initiative was born to organize courses and workshops aimed at medical professionals, particularly in the fields of aesthetic medicine, dermatology, and plastic surgery. Its main purpose was to provide rigorous training grounded in strong anatomical knowledge and practical applications.

Academic Programs

The original vision laid the foundation for transforming the Academy into the leading aesthetic medicine center in Brazil and Latin America. Over time, renowned specialists joined the project, including Dr. Rômulo Mene, who was the first to introduce glycolic peels and other acids globally, as well as international physicians from various countries who enriched the academic programs and contributed to the training of numerous professionals across the region. Prominent Brazilian aesthetic medicine experts, such as Dr. Mauricio de Maio and Dr. Alessandra Haddad, also played an active role in educating physicians both in Brazil and abroad.
